Breaking Dawn II

Posted by MKatBautista at 2:44 PM 0 comments

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a fan of the whole Twilight Saga but yeah, I've seen all four films. or five? and read the first 50 pages or so of the first book? Dem!

Anyhoo, the last installment, which is the 2nd part of the last book Breaking Dawn took my breath away one way or another. I guess it was the consequence of not reading the books AT ALL.

i was invited by my friends to watch the movie and so we did!

Mind you, the movie is nicely done. and because I was not a avid reader of the whole story, I got caught in the moment that I almost believed that all the action and disaster that happened is what really happened in the story.

Here's what I'm talking about:
- When most of the members of the Cullen family died! Especially Carlisle!
- When the enemies caught Renesme and Jacob in the wood when they ran off.

Yeah guess that's it. lol
Well, there's nothing more to say.

Black Swan

"I felt it. Perfect. I was perfect." - Nina Sayers

I've been seeing this title all over the internet and always wondered what the hullabaloo is all about. The trailer got me more curious about it when I saw one of my favorite actresses, Natalie Portman portraying the lead role. Though it gave me chills when I saw the part where her reflection had a life of its own, I made sure that I wouldn't watch this alone. Scared I am. So what?

I immediately got a copy from a friend who downloads DVD copies of the new movies and watched it with Steve right after dinner when I got home.

At first, it appeared to me that it was just another good movie with a typical plot of a girl chasing after her dreams of becoming the character she always wanted as a ballerina. In this case, the Swan Queen. I expected the story to go around on how she gets what she wants and all the things she went through to get it.

My guesses were somewhat right. The movie made me think so much I expressed weird reactions to some of the scenes. It was a girl wanting to be perfect at everything but needed to let go of her dark side to portray her perfect role as the Black Swan. I very much like the thrilling feel of the movie. It got me thinking so much that I couldn't wait for it to finish and find out how it's gonna end just so I could understand it all. Yeah, it served me right, I like the psychological plot of it. I love the make-up, costume and choreography and how Nina (Natalie Portman) actually portrayed/experienced the story of the Swan Queen in real life in her quest to be the perfect form of what and who she is.

LESSON: We should be contented with who and what we are AND have faith in ourselves.

Thumbs up for Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and the come back of Winona Ryder!

Movies for Less

Posted by MKatBautista at 3:16 PM 0 comments
I developed a hobby of watching movies at home instead of going to the cinemas, it makes use of my 32 inch flat screen Sony Bravia LCD TV that doesn't have a cable channel. Makes me save money as well.

MEGAMIND

My Dad built me cabinets for my TV and "abubots" just so my room could look more like a real apartment and not just a playhouse. I own a tiny apartment that's good for a single person so it's just right to have that feel like I'm in the cinema every time I watch a clear copy of a movie with lights closed. I play the movie on my laptop and connect it to the LCD TV, close the laptop's cover so I wouldn't be bothered which screen to look at and then have the time of my life!

It's just HEAVEN!

Little Fockers

Watched my first movie for 2011 and it's Little Fockers, the 3rd installment of Meet the Parents.
I must say, I underestimated the movie. I didn't expect to like it. I'm not really a Ben Stiller fan coz he kinda gives me that creepy humor ever since I saw him guest on my favorite series FRIENDS. Anyhoo, Ben Stiller was pretty good here and I liked his faithful husband character who didn't give in to the very tempting Jessica Alba. Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman, they just never fail to impress me with their quirky father figures. I love them! Owen Wilson suited his unique character here, he's good at that! Although there are some parts here that quite didn't give me the tickle, I'm gonna have to give it a thumb's up! Great movie to see with family and friends.

2012 Movie Review

Posted by MKatBautista at 2:23 PM 0 comments

Okay, this movie touched me. How it touched me? Well, let's just say that this movie emphasized alot of fathers giving up their lives for their children. I kinda think this movie should've been released around Father's Day. I heart Danny Glover's dialogue to Thandie Newton who played the role of his daughter in the movie, "a mother can give comfort to her child, and a father, can ask forgiveness from his daughter".

The flow of the scenes were mainly for cinematic purposes, like the disaster was really following the lead actors but never caught them. It was typical, but the effects were superb.
